I have recently just come to realise that you can never be bored here in Melbourne. There is always a new brunch dish to devour, a new gallery to visit, a new festival to get loose at, a new musical to watch, even a new bar to have drinks at.

The month of May is no exception; here are just a handful of events happening around the city this month:
Aladdin the Musical
For starters, you must have already guessed with the title – hell you might have even sung whilst reading it (A whole new Maaaay [world], a new fantastic point of view) don’t worry we’re not judging. Disney’s Hit Broadway Musical Aladdin has graced the people of Melbourne with their presence, and are ready to sprinkle people of all ages with some genie magic. The musical is in Melbourne until October and tickets are selling out. You’re not that lucky – you don’t get three wishes, so book now and head to Her Majesty’s Theatre before they fly off on their magic carpet. Grab your tickets HEREVan Gogh and the Seasons
A Melbourne exclusive, and something to visit if you want your senses evoked. Walk with Van Gogh through the different seasons. Be inspired by his artwork of flowers in bloom during Spring, feeling the heat of Summer through his paintings, almost tasting the bountiful harvests during Autumn, and experience the gloomy cold brought about by Winter. Don’t be ignorant in only knowing the painter who cut his own ear –head down to the NGV and experience his masterpieces first hand. Snap up yo’ tickets HEREView this post on InstagramA post shared by National Gallery of Victoria (@ngvmelbourne) on
William Eggleston Portraits
Not into post-impressionism, or only seeing landscape and scenery? Do not fear because NGV has got you covered! We also have Eggleston showcasing his sought after photographs that concentrate on the images of suburban life in the United States. Be curious, explore and ‘have your breath taken away.’ Currently exhibition on level three of the NGV, for a total of $0.Good Beer Week
Hailed as ‘one of the best beer festivals in the world’ – Melbourne is celebrating a full week of good beer (obviously). There are tonnes of activities to choose from, as their tagline says, you can ‘choose your own adventure’. From beer tasting to beer pairing, they have got it all. If you want to learn something new, or simply just have fun, save the date. It’s all happening May 12 to 21, all over Melbourne. Holey Moley Golf Club
Bored of your usual Friday night drinks? Come on and be the cool friend – invite the whole crew to have some drinks AND mini golf. The newly opened cocktail bar located at Little Bourke St does not only offer an interesting 27-hole individually themed course, but they also have a karaoke room. Talk about a one-stop destination. This newly opened bar/golf club/karaoke venue (I don’t even know what to call it now) has two floors with a bar on each, serving uniquely named drinks such as Teeyonce Knowles, Happy Gilmoreo, and Hole in One. I assure you your friends will be thanking you for weeks. Check it out HEREWicked Chocolate Festival
Skip your average Sunday brunch with the usual latte and pancakes, we have something more exciting for you to do on May 7 from 10 am to 4 pm at the Prahran Market. Head to the Wicked Chocolate Festival and have a chocolate espresso martini (for your caffeine fix of course) with a Nutella calzone instead. Too sweet for you? Don’t worry they’re also serving Margherita pizzas – without chocolate (BOO!). But why be like that? Come on and live a little. Photos of chocolate and more info HERE
