From grand weddings to intimate gatherings, every QT Melbourne wedding love story is unique and special to us. Recently, we had the pleasure of sitting down with one of our most recent couples, Amelia and Michael, and found ourselves falling in love with their story all over again.

Amelia and Michael, tell us a little about yourselves!
Michael and I met roughly 8 years ago through mutual friends on a very drunken Easter long weekend, there was an instant connection we could not deny. We spent the entire weekend together with friends, drinks, dinner dates and lots of dancing/laughter.  Both of us had recently come out of quite serious relationships, so we attempted to take things really slow, but clearly, we were unable to stay away from each other (even though at times we tried), and Michael proposed 7 years later on a trip to Bali.

You celebrated with not just one but two unforgettable weddings – a registry in Melbourne and a celebration in Bali. Tell us about your vision and inspiration…
Michael and I are huge lovers of travel and always wanted our wedding day to be somewhere overseas in a tropical destination with all of our special family and friends, no formalities, no boring stuff, just a huge celebration. We knew there would be some very important guests that would not be able to travel with us for various reasons so we decided on a very intimate wedding in Melbourne to make things official. We wanted this to be super special/memorable to us and our vibe was very Melbournesque and elegant. QT Melbourne was obviously the perfect pick!

Your post-registry photos at QT Melbourne are incredible. Tell us about capturing these moments.
Firstly all hail Maegan Brown Moments! I had been in love with her work for such a long time. Her style is so unique and incredible. Again we went for a super elegant, fun, memorable vibe. She fit the criteria perfectly and QT Melbourne was the perfect shoot location. The team at QT let us literally run amuck in the hotel lobby and hallways. Swinging around on the bellboy trolleys, stopping the lifts to get all the right shots. All the staff got involved in moving furniture and joined in the laughter to ensure we had the best time. It was everything we dreamed of and more.

What were your favourite photos and moments through the hotel?
It would be way too hard to pick! We had photos in the alleyway outside QT, walking into the entrance, the lobby, Premiere Bar, King Room and the accommodation hallways and rooms. The bellboy trolley was probably the highlight as it was just too much fun. Even the hotel guests stopped to watch, laugh and cheer us on.

Your pantsuit was ICONIC. Tell us about your outfits.
Everyone loved the pantsuit! I would love to say it’s designer, but I am even more excited to say it was SO affordable. I found the suit at an online store called Meshki, and it was just perfect for the look I wanted. There was no way I wanted Michael to see me in a dress before our destination wedding, but to be honest, I ended up loving the suit more! Michael was dressed head to toe in Dyonsu (highly recommend – we had the best experience).

What was the most memorable moment from the wedding day?
Ok this is a hard one! Would either have to be one of the two following:

Whilst Michael and I were having intimate kissing shots in the QT alleyway a bunch of Taylor Swift fans walking past screaming SLAYYYY QUEEEEN and sticking around to cheer us on, singing T-Swift songs and just making it the best vibe! Maybe a “you had to be there moment” but it was hilarious.

Otherwise, I know I have mentioned many times (SORRY not SORRY) but swinging around in the hotel lobby with a bottle of champagne on the bellboy trolley. Our Maid of Honour and best man ran down to join in on the fun and have all the hotel guests and staff members in fits of laughter.

Being a wedding planner yourself, do you have any tips for couples getting married?
Enjoy it! Don’t put too much pressure on it and worry about what other people think. Make it exactly what you and your partner want and the most important people will show up and make it even more perfect. You are the guest of honour not the host!

What 3 words would you use to describe your wedding day?
Chic, Memorable, FUN.
