When I’m in need of a crisp t-shirt and a quick pick me up, I used to have to fly to Sydney, grab an uber to Bondi Beach and take up a spot outside the only Saturdays NYC surf store in Australia. Thankfully, that no longer needs to be the way that I fill my wardrobe or weekends.

The trio behind the most successful New York City based Surf Store has just opened a sweet new store in the heart of Melbourne. We here at QT Life couldn’t be more stoked. Just think of all those crisp shirts and damn fine coffee that will populate weekend shopping.

The team have fitted out the store on Albert Coates Lane in classic Saturdays design. Neutral tones, white timber and a good dose of concrete. Giving the space, that gallery feel, you know the one, the one you fall in love with.

A little back story on the boys behind the brand: Colin Tunstall, Josh Rosen and Morgan Collett were tight brahs back in 2009. They decided to throw open the doors of a unique surf brand… on the streets of SoHo in New York City. The boys found a hole in the market and stuffed it full of sweet wetsuits, custom made boards and fine art. Today lads have two stores in New York, four in Japan and with the Melbourne opening, two in Australia.

When you walk into anyone of their stores, you’ll notice that the design is incredible, the Saturday branded candles smell edible and the apparel is skilfully made.

Oh and that pick me up I spoke of – each store has a coffee bar attached to it. The team brew a different bean at each store, Melbourne has opted for a mix between Artificer from Sydney and the local team at Everyday Coffee.

Order a coffee, have a browse and make that purchase. ‘Tis the season after all.
