The sun is the shining, the Yarra is looking brown, but still damn fine and the people of Melbourne have that Victorian grin all over their face.

It’s post-Australian Open, which means that Moomba Festival must be right around the corner? It’s the only thing this late in the summer season that brings such a knowing smile that radiates the ‘Melbourne over Sydney any day’ kind of smile.

Would you look at that, it is Moomba Festival time once again. Which means that the City of Melbourne has stacked together four huge days of family entertainment and that the Labour Day public holiday is so very close.

This year, just like last year, the programme has been ram packed with so much… good. Wall to wall good is exactly what covers the Moomba 2017 Festival Lineup.

The festival aims to celebrate Melbourne and the quirk that has become a staple of the Victorian capital.

Roving entertainment, skate and BMX comps, a puppet garden, roller disco, carnival ride and so much more. This is all wrapped in the culinary blanket that is the Melbourne food truck scene – obviously, we’re celebrating Melbourne here.

As the festival nears, we’ll be sure to keep you up to date with all the good that is going to take over Melbourne on the long weekend of March 10 – 13.

As a highlight taster, The Hawks will take on The Penguins once again in the annual Birdman rally. Kicking off on the Sunday, the two teams will face each other with homemade crafts to see who can fly the furthest down the Yarra, while raising money for their chosen charity.
