If you are passionate about luxury brands, you are currently studying fashion or you’re Kanye West and you’re reading this right now, you’ll be over the moon to find out that the Louis Vuitton Time Capsule Exhibition is on in Melbourne as we speak.
After stints in Shanghai, Singapore, Dubai, Hong Kong and Berlin, the international exhibition has touched down for its only Aussie stopover and, lucky for Melburnian fashionistas, it is in Australia’s biggest mall, the monolithic Chadstone Shopping Centre.
You don’t have to know much about the world of luxury couture to recognise the “LV” and to know what it stands for. It’s as well known as the golden arches, but waaaay more classy.
The Time Capsule Exhibition is an immersive journey through the Louis Vuitton Malletier fashion house. For those curious, the exhibition dives deep into the creative world of fine craftsmanship, traversing the story behind the iconic brand.
The Louis Vuitton empire has evolved over its 160 year reign, constantly predicting the desires of an ever-changing world and what it is to look sharp. To represent that, the Time Capsule Exhibition showcase includes a hand-picked collection of rare and celebrated objects and documents from the luxury House’s archives from 1854 to the present day.
The exhibition breaks this evolution up into four key aspects (the key to the codes, journeys around the world, elegance in motion and icons of the House) and displays it in a timeline of landmark moments. Signature designs and items of custom-made couture sit next to historic works and contemporary pieces in a display that leads you through the history of Louis Vuitton.
