I remember when I first fell in love. I would have been in the throws of my very early 20’s. I was in Sydney for a friend’s birthday – she was one of those well-to-do eastern suburbians. Bondi Beach took up most of the view from the balcony. That balcony was where it happened, where I fell in love. My friend’s mother asked if I’d like a drink, I replied with a broad answer that resulted in an odd look. She then handed me a glass with an aromatic bouquet that tickled my nose.
As I took a sip, a refreshment, similar to that of a ginger beer took hold of my taste buds. It was a wild ride of flavours. I held the glass back down to my side. With wide eyes, I professed my love for the clear spirit that was mixed with the sometimes overbearing tonic.
That’s when I fell in love with Gin. How about you?

To excite you and throwback to those days of young love, it comes as a timely reminder to block out November 19 and 20, so you can pay tribute to the magic that is the juniperus communis, or juniper berry.
Back for the second year, the festival that celebrates the craftsmanship of the fine spirit, returns to Federation Dock in mid-November. If you cast your mind back 360 odd days ago, you’ll remember hearing the rave reviews surrounding Juniperlooza, Australia’s first two-day festival to celebrate the finest Gin.
With over 25 gin producers exhibiting their botanical juices, including Sydney favourites Archie Rose and local team The Melbourne Gin Company. Joining the distillers will be master classes teaching you how to craft the ultimate springtime G&T’s and Gin martinis.
Early bird tickets on sale until October 31!
