Welcome to The Cake Shop, the sweetest member of the gastronomic offerings at QT Melbourne. A place to enjoy a delicately crafted pastry or a soft lemon earl grey teacake. Pair this with coffee supplied by the team at Five Senses, boutique teas from the good people at Tippity and hot chocolate by the crew at Mörk, the Cacao Artisans of Melbourne.
Creating the patisserie magic is Yousseff Aderdour, a pastry chef with an envious resume. From his early days with multiple Michelin star owner, Alian Ducasse, creating pastries from Lebanon to Paris and to Ducasse’s famed Benoit in New York. Aderdour is now calling QT home as the Executive Pastry Chef at QT Melbourne and is producing tasty bites all over the hotel.
Now from time to time you need a little afternoon pick-me-up. An afternoon delight if you will. The Cake Shop can pick-you-up like no one else.
I would highly recommend you start with the Smoked Salmon on a Brioche, or if fish just ain’t yo thing, grab the Black Truffle Baguette. Either way, they’ll be tickling your taste buds.
After the formalities are out of the way, try one of the signature treats, the QT Caramel éclairs – delicate pastry with a brittle chocolate layer – deliciousness, in a word.
What is an afternoon pick-me-up without a little tipple from the bar?
Good Question. It’s a dry pick-me-up. Sounds horrible.
The wine list alone holds some absolute greats. If you’re riding solo, maybe hold off the David Moreau Santenay 1ER CRU, it only comes by the bottle. Check out the Fiorini Chanti or the Morrilla Estate, both come by the glass and taste like they were stomped by angles.
When you turn the page to the cocktail offering, you know your pick-me-up just became something else. After the meal that you’ve just had, nothing like the Classic Champagne Cocktail could be more fitting. Oh, apart from a bitter Bottled Negroni.
What a way to rid the afternoon away, see you soon.
