Yes Sir Noceur

Jun 2, 2016  ·  3 min read

By Ashleigh Hobson.

The Goldy is famous for its pristine beaches, outrageous nightlife and great weather, but I’ll let you in on a little secret, we are also home to quite a few talented local bands. Dig a little deeper beyond the Goldy stereotype and you will find incredible backstreet bars and venues which provide electrifying live music most weekends. Amongst the list of bands that grace us with their presence on a Friday and Saturday night is a local group called Yes Sir Noceur, who just last year released their first EP which has been welcomed with open arms by the likes of Triple J, Chanel 7’s Sunrise morning show and ABC’s Rage.

This lively four-piece doesn’t look like they will be slowing down anytime soon with grand plans in place to make this year even more successful than the last. Besides the latest success with their EP, they have an up coming tour this year, so we thought it was about time we picked the brains of one of the band members, Rory Switzer, to see what else they have in the works for 2016…

How do you and the boys feel about the response you’ve been receiving since releasing your first EP?
We’ve been very grateful for all of the love, support and opportunities that have arose since releasing that first record. So much local love here on the GC!

What can we expect if we head down to one of your shows?
An energetic show complimented by full frontal male nudity.

Where will you be touring this year and how can we find out more about new music and shows?
We are about to kick off a string of shows supporting Sydney based band, Borneo, and will be stopping in Byron, the Gold Coast and Brisbane. Later in the year we take our first trip Southbound to Melbourne and Sydney, which we are all very excited about. Except for our bass player, Harry, who has been tasked to drive our gear down…

What are your suggestions for anyone wanting to find live music venues on the Coast?
BLANK GC’s website and mag are my go-to’s when wanting to see what’s on. Miami Shark Bar, Elsewhere, Currumbin Creek Tavern and Sound Lounge are all venues on the Coast that regularly put on original live music.

Check out their upcoming gigs, along with the two newly released singles and soon to be released second EP on their website.
