Everyone seems to think that as winter rolls around it means we can reach for that extra jumper, and hide those extra couple of kilos we’ve accumulated after one too many drinks over summer, but not on the Goldy. Here we find ourselves living in a bubble where it’s never acceptable to be “winter body ready” (unfortunately I seemed to have missed the memo), so we must persevere, and push through those cold mornings with a couple of the best winter workouts to help keep you summer body on point this winter.
F45 Training
F45 Training is a new training technique claiming to be the most innovative, challenging and systemised team training in the world. Don’t worry if that description has left you confused, all you need to do is prepare to be left gasping for air! With the likes of Nate Myles, Liesel Jones, Joel Madden and Hugh Jackman giving it a run for its money, it’s about time you grab a water bottle and head down to their new location at Carrara and give it a go for yourself. F45 even offers your first week free.
Bikram Yoga
What better way to stay warm than by attempting to finish a 90 minute yoga class in 40 degree heat. Sound like a sick joke? I’m afraid not! The room is heated intentionally to warm the muscle, which apparently allows you to work deeper. Don’t turn up your nose to the idea of Hot Yoga just yet; each class burns approximately 900 calories per class which is around 3 ½ glasses of red wine… they say life is about balance right?!
Hot Yoga Gold Coast offer a number of different weekly Bikram yoga classes.
Reformer Pilates
If you need more of a reason to wear your active wear besides going and getting a coffee in the trendiest part of town, then this workout may be for you. Reformer is the latest craze on the Gold Coast and the biggest thing since fake tan. Reformer Pilates is a step up from the usual mat Pilates classes and tend to work the muscles through a large range of motion, which is ideal for building and toning, and perfect for preparing you for all those bikini selfies next summer.
