Valentine’s Day: romantic, sensual and fairy tale-esque for some, lonely, lame and commercial for others. If you’re the latter, then this year there’s something sultry stirring at The Arts Centre, and it might be just what you’re looking for.
This year on St Valentine’s Eve, The Basement at The Arts Centre will be hosting a Valentine’s Masquerade “Lock & Key” Singles Party… intriguing, no? If you’re prohibitively shy, don’t stress – masquerade parties mean a mask is a must!
Kicking off at 7:30pm on Feb 13, go along and celebrate all manner of debauchery, deviance and romantic delight. Meeting people isn’t easy, so to get things going the ice-breakers have been sorted for you as you drink and dance your way through the night to a range of live performances.
If you’re wondering how a ‘Lock & Key’ party works, it’s super simple. First of all, just show up on time to collect your complimentary drink (a little liquid courage never hurts!). Next, the men will collect a small key, and the women will collect their padlocks. The idea of which is to talk to as many different people as possible, and try to find your match. If you do manage to find the key to fit your lock and your prince turns out to be a pauper, the deal will be sweetened when you win a prize!
The dress code is divine decadence, so dress to impress. Your outfit is your choice, but a mask is compulsory.
Tickets cost $50, and numbers are limited so booking in advance is highly recommended.
The Gold Coast Arts Centre is just a 10 minute drive (or short taxi ride) inland from QT. Book your accommodation now, and don’t forget to take a second key in case you meet that special someone…
