How good are plants? Those multi-purpose, living, breathing, shrubby beauties simultaneously clean the air we breathe, whilst sprucing up our living environments. Not to mention that they’ve been the source of most modern medicines, and provide food and shelter for most of the freakin’ world! From cacti to conifers, flowers and ferns, stand up and take a bow plants – Good on you.
There is no denying that there is an internal human longing to be in touch with nature; unfortunately there are many of us living and working in paved paradises, where the colour green is rarely seen. This is where Lauren & Lauren from The Borrowed Nursery have identified an opportunity to bring life to environments that people live and work in that are deprived of plants.
These avant-gardener’s business model is simple; create a space where people can purchase, borrow and access styling services for plants.
“We work with our clients and customers, combining creative ideas as well as a wealth of knowledge to achieve the perfect event, the perfect space or simply the perfect piece.”
The two green-thumbs offer a diverse range of services, from greening up product shoots to styling floral and plant arrangements for weddings, running terrarium-building workshops and supplying flower crowns to music festival goers. They also offer a range of unique pots & garden related hand crafted hardware that won’t break the bank.
The Borrowed Nursery’s plant borrowing service could almost be seen as taking a page from what has been recently been referred to as “the sharing economy” or collaborative consumption. By offering this borrowing service, the Laurens are reducing their businesses environmental impact as well as accelerating sustainable consumption amongst the community.
So the next time you’re in need of a permanent, or temporary plant fix, look no further than the leafy ladies at The Borrowed Nursery.
