Bleach* Festival will be back on the Gold Coast from March 4 – 20 for the fifth year running. For those of you who have experienced Bleach* Festival in the past, just know that this year the organisers are planning on making it more audacious and adventurous in it’s celebration of Gold Coast art. Inspired by history, the future and environment, the aim of the festival is to big-up the Goldy and to leave visitors frothing on the creative endeavours happening right now.
There’s a massive list of events for this year’s Bleach*, here a few stand outs that you should check out:
Horizon with Angels
Stepping away from the musical side of the festival and stepping closer towards acrobatics and movement performances, Bleach Festival is proud to present the world premiere of Horizon with Angels. This tantalizing performance will be taking place on the Evandale Lake at dusk, and aims to leave your eyes bulging and jaws well dropped. As the sun sets over the beautiful Surfers Paradise skyline, Horizon with Angels will turn this setting into a playground of performances which will celebrate the lake and a cast of over 200 young Gold Coast voices.
Luminaries
Throughout Bleach* Festival this year, internationally acclaimed projection artist Craig Walsh, will illuminate some of the Gold Coast’s most spectacular natural landscapes and parks. As the sun starts to set, you will start to notice formations across the festival landscape as illuminated faces emerge in unforgettable display that aims to challenge the representation of history in our civic spaces (Griffith University, the Strand and Mudgeeraba).
Ben Lee
One of the most anticipated acts of this year’s Bleach* Festival is their feature artist, Ben Lee. Coming off the back of his 10th studio album and literally growing up in front of our eyes, the incredibly talented Lee will be partaking in an intimate song writing workshop at Helensvale. Lee will also be sharing his insights into his life and career over afternoon drinks held at our very own QT Gold Coast.
Bleach* Festival runs from March 4 – 20, 2016
