Quicksilver and Roxy Pro 2016

Picture this, you’re standing on one of Australia’s favourite point breaks amongst an abundance of tanned bodies bikini and board short-clad bodies and the sun is beating down on yet another text book Gold Coast day. No you haven’t died and gone to heaven, you’ve stumbled upon into the the Quicksilver and Roxy Pro.

From March 10 – 21 Snapper Rocks is going to be crawling with every surfing enthusiast man and his dog, hoping to get a sneak peak of some of the world’s top surfers shredding. But if you’re like me and you’re not quite sure what entering a green room is or the difference between a backdoor and a barrel, don’t fret – the Quicksilver Pro creates an good buzz for all involved, no matter how much of a kook one is (and yes, I did google ‘surfing terms’ to help me sound like a surfing enthusiast, and yes I’m well aware that I failed miserably). The Quicksilver and Roxy Pro is a highly respected sporting event and is known all around the world. Being held in the beachside town of Coolangatta and on one of our best surf breaks in Australia makes it a popular destination for competitors and spectators combined. This will be the 15th year this event has been held at Coolangatta and the event organisers are claiming that this year will be just as good, if not better than the past years. Why? Because lately the surf has been absolutely cranking.

The event will include a series of programs and a wide selection of entertainment and also offers options for both adults and kids. After spending the day in the sun watching the competition take place, you can head to one of the many beachfront restaurants or even pop across to the Coolangatta Hotel which is one Australia’s best live music venues.

So whether you’re a keen surfers from way back or just feel like having a perv’ on the international talent, the Quicksilver and Roxy Pro has got you covered. And not that you need any more reason than to check it out, but it’s a free event so it won’t break the bank either.
