Romancing With Gold Coast Gondolas

Dec 14, 2015  ·  2 min read

By Thomas Souness…

Venice is overrated. It’s also very far away… Far too far for a spontaneous date night, at least. And that is where Gold Coast Gondolas steps in to supply the demand.

Operating for 15 years, with more than 2,500 marriage proposals catered to, this local favourite does romance like nobody else. Now we’re not trying to say you have to pop the question, but you might just be tempted once you step into these ceremonial Venetian inspired gondolas, nestle into the plush sheepskin covered seats, and gently push off from shore to slowly motor through the serenity of the Gold Coast Broadwater at sunset. The gondolas themselves are adapted to Australian conditions, with a weatherproof cabin and a soundproof panel separating you from your Gondolier to ensure maximum privacy while you whisper things you’d be too embarrassed to say in front of your mates.

As nice as a gentle cruise through the Broadwater may be, don’t think the experience ends there. Gold Coast Gondolas provides a romantic, candlelit dinner with an extensive menu boasting delicacies such as Sesame Crusted Salmon, Thai Beef Salad and more. Whilst champagne and sparkling wine may be organised in advance, Gold Coast Gondolas is also BYO, and does provide glasses and an ice bucket for you and your partner’s favourite bottle of bubbles. Whilst a romantic sunset tour may seem hard to pass up on, Gold Coast Gondolas also run daylight tours for a relaxing lunch, or even breakfast on the water.

Starting at $125 per person, for a fully catered tour, Gold Coast Gondolas is located at Mariner’s Cove on Seaworld Drive, just a short 10-minute drive from QT.
