Calling all film lovers, movie aficionados and aspiring filmmakers around Australia, the Gold Coast Film Festival is the place to be to get your fix on the latest and greatest of what’s happening in the world of film. The festival will see more than 70 films and film related events taking place over nine different locations across the city from March 31 – April 10.

The 2016 Gold Coast Film Festival is not to be missed with premiere exclusive screenings of some of the latest indie films from around the world, captivating audiences with a variety of film genres including critically acclaimed foreign language films, engaging documentaries, Japanese anime, family features, horror, sci-fi, drama and locally produced films.

Plus special pop-up events throughout the Festival includes the prestigious Chauvel Award, Women In Film lunch, movie trivia night and free community screenings to make sure everyone can get involved no matter what their budget.

SPEAR
Saturday, April 2
Recently winning the ASPA UNESCO Award and gaining critical acclaim at the Toronto International Film Festival and Sydney Film Festival, Spear is a visually arresting film that brings the stories of Indigenous Australians to life. The film screening is followed by Q&A with director Stephen Page and actor Hunter Page-Lochard.
SIPFest
Sunday, April

SIPFest is an annual short film competition transforming Surfers Paradise beach into a vibrant and unique cinema, featuring 10-minute cinematic masterpieces by emerging filmmakers from around Australia.
Movie Trivia Night
Thursday, April 7
Put your weird and wonderful movie knowledge to use and come to QT Gold Coast for a night of laughs and good times. Hosted by ABC Gold Coast’s Bern Young, the Movie Trivia night is sure to be a hit!
