Alfred Hitchcock once said that the length of a film should be directly related to the endurance of the human bladder. Which makes Flickerfest – the annual Academy accredited short film festival that is about to take place at the Arts Centre Gold Coast on Friday March 27 – perfect for people like us who just can’t say no to chugging back that extra large soda before the film can even start.
Originally a ground roots festival that was held at Sydney’s Balmain High School back in 1991, over the last 23 years Flickerfest has grown to become one of the most internationally renowned short film festivals in the world.
So much so, that in 2003, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science elected to recognise Flickerfest as a qualifying festival for the Best Short Film and Best Animation categories at the annual Academy® Awards.
The Arts Centre Gold Coast will show a selection of award winning range of highlights that will give local Flickerfest fans a first look at the hottest short films from around Australia today.
A great opportunity to catch some excellent work by modern artists and auteurs, Flickerfest is a must for even the most novice movie buff. And perfect for our fellow upsized soda drinkers.
Flickerfest will take place at the Arts Centre Gold Coast on Friday, March 27.
