Eating through June

By Ashleigh Hobson.

The temperature has dipped ever so slightly so prepare for some whinging. We’re still copping days in the low 20s, but my mark words there’ll be a little whinging. What else does the slight dip mean? It means we concentrate a little less on swimming and a little bit more on eating. So let’s look at all things food for this month and pin point some of the stand out favourites around the Goldy for those sneaky guilty pleasures.

Gold Coast Food and Wine Festival

Nightquarter is still considered the new kid on the block but is taking the Goldy by storm with its up and coming Food and Wine Festival. Throughout the month of June, every Friday and Saturday night their already popular food market will expand into the surrounding local businesses to bring to you appreciation classes, interactive cooking workshops and progressive degustation dinners. Head to the website to find out more information and grab your tickets.

Gold Coast Food and Wine Festival is June 3 – 25

Cooly Rocks On

It’s back and it’s bigger than ever, but don’t be deterred if you’re not a fellow car lover. You will be pleasantly surprised by the array of food on offer and gourmet food trucks that will be gracing us over the Cooly Rocks On in June. Take your tastebuds on an incredible adventure back to the 50’s and 60’s and experience the vintage styled food whilst you join in the atmosphere that has been taking over Coolangatta for years! For more information head to the website and just a heads up, this one is a free event!

Cooly Rocks On runs June 3 – 13

Eat Local

With locally sourced food being all the rage right now, QT Gold Coast has teamed up with Scenic Rim (where they source most of their produce) and Brenda Fawdon and Christine Sharp to launch their new book, Eat Local. This isn’t your typical book launch though; we’re talking about eating delicious canapés on QT’s rooftop garden, live demonstrations from Head Chef Greg Benney and a massive lunch in the gamed Bazaar Marketplace. And before you ask, yes there will be drinks.
