Eat Local Week 2016

Practice culinary mindfulness. Be flavour conscious. Think about what’s on your plate. Where did that cherry tomato grow up? Did the lamb cutlet come from a lamb that was treated kindly before meeting the butcher’s axe? Were the ingredients for this Spanish omelette shipped here from a foreign land… like Spain!?

We have so much amazing produce within the Gold Coast hinterland and Scenic Rim landscapes, which is what Eat Local Week is all about. Eat Local Week celebrates locally sourced produce from local producers and farms. We would dig a little deeper and highlight some of the amazing events that are going down. So without any further ado, here are our top picks for Eat Local Week:

Long Table Lunch at Lime Caviar Company – June 24
One long table and one extra long lunch and an epic seven-course degustation! Boasting breathtaking views as far as the eye can see, the intimate lunch will be hosted by Cameron Matthews (The Long Apron) and Javier Codina (Moda).

O’Reilly’s Canungra Valley Vineyards Longest Lunch – June 26

Shoes optional as you sink your feet into the lush green grass and dig into some amazing local produce featured across a three-course menu matched with bubbles from the vineyard itself.

Mt Barney Lodge Bush Tucker Tracker – from June 25
Kids gone wild! The Tucker Tracker takes kids into nature to discover and, if you dare, taste real Aussie bush tucker from bush berries to edible flowers and plants… Perfect knowledge for a zombie apocalypse – just saying.

Winter Harvest Festival – July 2
If you are going to check out one event across Eat Local Week this is the event you should hit. Food lovers rejoice, the Winter Harvest Festival is a showcase of the best and most delicious food and wine from the local area providing an opportunity to literally eat your way around the Scenic Rim.
