I dough-nut care about your diet! I’m not mad about the latest health craze taking over the world and the influx of gluten free, dairy free, sugar free, flavour free foods. I’m more about the doughnut frenzy that’s going on simultaneously. How can such a simple concept and the re-inventing of a classic long-standing treat be making such a big come back? Well, donut makers are getting crafty. They’re pushing the dough boundaries and entering into some sweet and gluttonous unchartered waters.

I’m going to cover some of the major leaders in the doughnut offerings and I can guarantee you that by the end of this piece you will be ready for that 3pm sugar hit, regardless if it’s 4AM, midday or 10:34 in the PM!

All Time Coffee Co
All Time Coffee Co is still only fairly new to the doughnut game, but don’t underestimate their offerings. These guys bake and sell some of the best doughnuts on the Goldy, not to mention cater for the vegan craze at the same time. Their standout is the Nutella and salted caramel filled doughnuts baked fresh each day, pair that with one of their delicious coffees and you’re in for a treat.

Doughnut Time
Now, Doughnut Time is a whole other kettle of fish, from their highly themed doughnuts to quirky names and little boutique stores. These guys have taken an incredibly simple concept of fried treats and turned it into a phenomenon. From their original glazed, salted caramel, jam and cream right through to their maple bacon, hibiscus and nerds, Doughnut Time has taken every ingredient imaginable and placed it on top of the beloved doughnut.

Paddock Bakery
Being a standalone bakery of course you are expecting these guys to absolutely nail the little fried treat we have all come to love, but just like their competitors, Paddock has really pushed the limits when creating their specialty doughnuts. They offer incredible combos such as their salted caramel and pretzel cookie crumbs to vanilla malt milkshake and the old faithful, Nutella filled doughnuts with their choc popping candy!
