Cool, calm, and collected: Recent acquisitions from the collection

Posted by Sas Lyon

The Gold Coast City Gallery Collection has grown significantly in the last few years mostly due to a raft of wonderful donations from a number of generous donors. This exhibition seeks to highlight the breadth and depth of these gifts along with judicious purchases and competition winners.

Featuring highly sought-after artists such as Arthur Boyd, Adam Cullen, Shaun Gladwell, Rosemary Laing, Richard Larter, and Sidney Nolan, the exhibition will include large landscape paintings, abstract works and works inspired by the local area and history. Also on display are a number of Archibald Prize finalists including Alexander McKenzie’s haunting portrait of actress Toni Collette, as well as Garry Shead’s 2012 entry of fellow artist Martin Sharp.

We remain grateful to Gallery Chairman Patrick Corrigan AM whose enthusiasm for the collection and encouragement of others has been the driving force behind many of the donated works.
