Carla Colour Shades

By Niall Roeder

Bright, vintage frames. Purple and blue tints. Smart and fun. This is Carla Colour’s debut range of unisex eyewear, in a nutshell.

Carla Robertson, the television producer turned mother of twins turned sunglass designer is the brains behind the creative lens outfit. It’s hard to find out many details on the slightly mysterious and intriguing brand. Trawling through their Pinterest and Instagram, I can see inspiration is drawn from both pastels and exotic colour schemes, and she clearly likes the nostalgic side of retro (and sometimes kitsch) fashion, art and trinkets.

Just like her social media accounts and website, her sunglasses are very clean in design. Although simple-looking enough, nothing is out of place, every detail has been consciously decided on, from each colour matching, to the material and the shape.

“Colour and geometry meet with the Carla Colour Lind Circle collection. Shape inspired by the 1960s folk rock music of Bob Lind… raising a fist, in an elegant way. Colour combinations embody the freedom of Henri Matisse paper cut-outs”

Carla Colour ships worldwide, so if you think you deserve a little lens treat, peruse and order through the website.
