Burleigh Pro 2016

What did the wave say to the surfer? Have a swell time! … I’m so sorry about that.

Okay now that I’ve got that out of my system, it’s time to fill you in on this year’s upcoming Burleigh Pro 2016. Picture this… You’re sitting on the grassy knoll that is Burleigh Hill, binoculars in one hand, cold bevvy in the other, warm summer sun beating down, with the sweet salty air filling your lungs; and you haven’t paid a cent to be there.

Now realistically, I could probably leave it right there. I mean, do you really need any more motivation to go? Probably not… but here’s some extra info just for the hell of it.

January 29 – 31, Bruce Lynton Land Rover will be presenting yet another Burleigh Pro, which is set to have the biggest turnout yet. This event carries a World Surfing League QS1000 rating, hosting both men’s and women’s divisions. With the dates so close together, it’s fair to call the Burleigh Pro a sizeable warm-up in anticipation of both the Quicksilver and Roxy Pro which will be held in mid-March a little further south at Snapper Rocks.

Back to defend her title after last year’s win, Dimity Stoyle will be competing alongside other big names such as Bronte Macaulay, Keely Andrew, Oney Anwar, Ethan Ewing, Keitaro Fujinuma and many more.

For those who can’t make it down to Burleigh on the day, World Surf League will be live-streaming the event on their website. For that, and to keep an eye out for further info, follow the WSL website.
