Bree De Rome

Simplistically understated seems to be a common trend among Gen Y artists, with shows like The Voice and Australia’s Got Talent providing a stage for gifted, and not so gifted, artists to get there foot inside the guarded door that is the music industry.

A familiar face to the Gold Coast as well as third runner up on Australia’s Got Talent is our local Bree De Rome. Born and raised on the GC, Bree is a big voice inside an innocent body. This petite rosie-cheeked girl has built up quite the reputation to make people shed a tear or two. In her audition on Australia’s Got Talent in 2011, Bree proved she is one of the only humans on this planet with the ability to made Kyle Sandilands cry during what was a stand still performance. “You’re like Eva Cassidy meets…. Jesus”, Brian McFadden stuttered. This was the start of Bree De Rome.

“Having an older brother that was heavily involved with music in our local community really gave me the passion for music that I have today. Our whole family has always enjoyed music, my mum would always make sure she sang along in the car, though she’s completely tone deaf”

The quirky kid growing up on the Gold Coast, Bree always struggled to fit in, her individuality and love for everything vintage really made her stand out during the show. Having now graduated as one of the youngest students and the Queensland Conservatorium of Music, Bree pursues her music career alongside her newfound love, Peter Gabrielides, the winner of the Golden Guitar at the 2013 Tamworth Country Music Awards.
