Growing up and living on the Gold Coast has led to a misconception amongst some that the Arts Centre is only for amateur dance concerts and midday screenings of terrible movies. Oh, how wrong that is. For example, did you know that the basement has comedy on Friday nights? Dig a little deeper and you’d be pleasantly surprised at the array of quality events the Art Centre holds each week. Comedy in the Basement

Now I am being biased but this is by far my favourite event that the Art Centre holds; it’s cheap, easy and knee-slappingly good! Every Friday night, the Art Centre showcases a whole heap of local, national and international comedians. Depending on who’s on, it will usually only set you back $25pp. Not to mention they have a licensed bar and great food menu to help keep your hunger at bay whilst your sitting back enjoying the comedy.
