We all remember that classic scene in Serendipity, when John Cusack and Kate Beckinsale are standing in the middle of the Central Park ice rink, snow is gently cascading around them, they join hands, look deep into each others eyes and kiss. It’s beautiful. Now what did we learn from that? Love is out there? No. We learn that ice rinks are great.
Winter Garden has set up Australia’s largest open-air ice rink outside St. Mary’s Cathedral, as well as a heap of other cool things to keep you warm like food stalls, pop-up bars, art displays & music. It’s about time Sydney embraced the chillier months!

Apart from the skating, city dwelling adrenaline junkies can indulge in a massive inflatable slide and a mechanical snowboard. For those looking to thicken their winter coat, the European styled Café Del Mar Bar will be serving up Agape Organic Food, authentic Turkish Gozleme, German Sausag hut, Portino Trattoria Italian, Teppanyaki Noodles and Woodstax Pizzas.
There’ll be plenty of places to grab a tipple (we must keep warm after all) and the pop-up Lindt Café will be serving hot chocolate.
