Twilight at Taronga 2016

Jan 28, 2016  ·  2 min read

By Ben Stephens.

In the jungle, the mighty jungle the lion sleeps tonight… However, in another world, the jungle is swapped for Taronga Zoo and the sleep is switched with the sounds of an amazing summer ensemble. From the likes of The John Butler Trio, to the Hottest 100 queen, Courtney Barnett the team at Taronga Zoo have come up with a line up that has something for everyone this season.

Twilight at Taronga is a Sydney special. As you head over the harbour via ferry in the late afternoon, find your place in the amphitheatre, throw down the rug and take in the 180-degree view that looks back on the metropolis that is the city of Sydney. As the sun starts the slow descent, the good people of Twilight at Taronga have picnic hampers on hand, inspired by Giovanni Pilu, packed with authentic antipasto flavours. Good on ya Pilu. While over at the bar you will find a long list of beers, wines and spirits with the classic Aperol Spritz, close to hand.

If you don’t feel like getting the ferry back to the reality of the city, you could always stay overnight in the zoo with the Roar and Snore experience. This will see you set up with a tent overlooking the harbour, tickets to a selected gig, a night time walk through the zoo and an early morning behind the scenes tour to wake up for.

The full line up:

  • Thursday January 28 – Courtney Barnett
  • Friday January 29 – Josh Pyke
