#TROPVINE: You Have Six Seconds

Haven’t “vines” taken over the world in the last few years. No, not Tarzan’s favourite shrubbery, I’m talking about uber popular six-second videos that are plastered all over the interwebs. I can hear the 30-somethings now, “Social media used to be about pictures man”. Well not anymore, these hilarious and extremely creative clips are here to stay. Tropfest Australia and Twitter’s short video app, Vine have joined forces to make #TROPVINE: a competition… for vines.

Anyone is welcome to enter the biggest little video competition going around. To do so, entrants must make an original Vine film, using this year’s TSI (Tropfest Signature Item) ‘CARD’, and Tweet it to @TROPFEST using the competition hashtags #tropvine and #card by July 31.

Tee Ken Ng took out last year’s#TROPVINE with the cracking clip above. It went on to be nominated for “Vine Of The Year” at the Shorty Awards and was up against Michelle Obama’s brilliant entry (below):

#TROPVINE have offered these helpful hints to help you shoot your tiny masterpiece:

1. Get a tripod
2. Use the ghost feature for stop motion
3. Take your time, come back as needed
4. Train your tap
5. Use earphones with a built in mic for better audio
6. Review before posting

Whoever is crowned the Vine champion will take home a cash prize of $5,000 AUD, a Nikon 1 V3 Camera Kit with a 10-30mm lens, one year of Spotify premium PLUS a VIP trip to Sydney for Tropfest Australia 2015 this December, including Qantas flights to Sydney and accommodation at QT Sydney.
