Tramsheds at Harold Park

Sep 23, 2016  ·  3 min read

By Ben Stephens

When a pal from out of town asks me where to go for a gastronomic experience, I usually throw the Good Food Guide at them and make them look at the all the dog-eared pages, every single one of them. In reality, we’ll most likely end up at Golden Century with a table full of food on a lazy susie. This happens mostly because the choice of where to dine has never been more diverse in the Harbour City. To add even more choice of places to dine, Glebe is about to get a brand new addition, Tramsheds.

This place is set to be stocked with some of Sydney’s best gastronomic gods, set amongst a European-inspired market hall – #eurochic.

Originally built in 1904, a whopping 112 years ago, the Tramsheds have been left  untouched since the trams where taken off the streets in 1958. After spending decades in a state of abandonment, with the odd rave here and there, the Tramsheds are about to be the best place to sit and enjoy a long lunch, with plenty of wine from some of Sydney’s best providores.

Taking up the rather large role of bringing home the bread will be Dust Bakery. They’ve installed an Austrian made flour mill for every grain to pass through before becoming the fine produce you see on the shelf. The Melbourne export that Sydney has fallen for, Belle’s Hot Chicken, will be offering their delicious burgers and sides. The lads behind crowd favourites Porteño and Bodega will no doubt fill a room with Bodega 1904, serving traditional, mouth watering tapas. As the boys know a thing or two about wine, Bodega 1904 will also have a wine store attached, so you take home a couple of favourites. On top of all this, to sweeten the deal, Gelato Messina will be there with 52 flavours that will continue to blow your mind.

There are so many more culinary delights to discover, check out the whole list HERE. You’ll see there are boxing and fitness classes, a medical centre and pasta making lessons with Flour Water Eggs, making the Tramsheds a place for community to come together.
