The Barbers Of QT

Come out of the elevator on the mezzanine level of QT Sydney, take a right, then left and you’ll discover dapper gents that possess the skills of a trade dating back to Ancient Egypt. When you find yourself inside QT Canberra, stroll through the entrance of Lucky’s Speakeasy and you’ll spy more skilled members of the QT Barber clique. The Barbers of QT are Mad Men. They’re all about sharp cuts and close shaves… and the odd glass of Chivas Regal. They boast a wealth of knowledge on what works for the modern gentleman and they’re not afraid to tell you.

The Barbers of QT is a blog series and Instagram account about having pride in one’s appearance. These well-dressed fellas are going to share tips on men’s fashion and grooming that’ll have you looking sharper than a straight edge razor.

To start things off, one of the scissor-smiths at QT Sydney is Kris Jones. The man is a member of the BBA, or for those not so cluey on the barber scene, that’s the British Barber Association. Mr. Jones, who hails from Northern Wales, moved to Sydney two years ago to take up the resident position of Head Barber with QT Sydney. Apart from being able to precisley scrape a sharp razor over your chin and expertly style your mop, Kris is a man of style and is dressed exclusively by M.J. Bale.

‘The Sydney style is different from that of England. It’s far more casual here, but it works. The barbering scene in Sydney is gaining huge popularity at the moment, I have clients that will come in every couple of days for a hot towel facial and just to maintain their look. Sydney men like to look after themselves and that’s a great thing’ – Kris Jones
