Tom-ayto. Tom-ahto. However you say, just don’t miss out on Sydney’s latest quirky food celebration, the Sydney Tomato Festival, held in Hyde Park from Saturday, February 14 until Sunday, 15.
A core ingredient to some of our favourite dishes (pizza, pasta, pizza) the tomato is a humble staple for most Australians, the Sydney Tomato Festival is part celebration part market yet completely delicious event.
At the Sydney Tomato Festival you will be able to buy local organic produce, take a guided tour through the Tomato Village, or book a four-course degustation experience inspired by, and revolving around, the tomato. Naturally.
Entry to the festival is free but some adjacent events such as the cherry tomato race and other games, require a gold coin donation.
You will also get the chance to take a masterclass on tomato preserving, held by the infamous Italian chef, Pietro Demaio.
A fantastic experience to be had by anyone with a mouth to eat and stomach to fill, the Sydney Tomato Festival at Hyde Park is the perfect summer weekend in Sydney – food, fun, sun and of course more food.
The Sydney Tomato Festival will take place in Hyde Park for two days, starting on Saturday February 14 and finishing on Sunday February 15
