Sydney’s New Year’s Eve

Dec 29, 2016  ·  3 min read

What a wild end to the year – a heatwave is really just the icing on the layer cake that 2016 was. After such an eventful year, it’s time to celebrate. Sydney boasts some of the best parties for the end of the year wrap up. Here is just a taste:

Circular Quay
A great place to visit for those first-timers to the ultimate annual party in Sydney. It is a well-known fact that given our jaw-droppingly stunning backdrop scenery – and general love for pyrotechnics – that Sydney is truly one of the best places to ring in the New Year. Catching the show live is…an experience. Find the perfect spot and you’re laughing, leave it too late and you’ll find yourself clawing your way out of a throng of people at 00:31. Take it from personal experience, the live show must be a carefully planned venture – grab a Turkish towel, picnic supplies, a 6-er of brewskies and a cheeky hip flask and get down there early. Like waiting for the new Air Jordans, it’s first in, best dressed. My advice: settle in, because you’re in it for the long wait – it’s worth it, I promise.

Luna Park
Every Sydney-sider worth their salt knows about this little gem. It may be relatively small in size when compared to Dreamworld, but don’t underestimate this carnival’s ability to kick it into another gear come New Years Eve. For an entry fee of $119, you not only have access to all the rides and stalls, which becomes a gazillion times more fun when fuelled by alcohol and tunes but also guarantee yourself the best seat in the house when the fireworks start! You are right under the Harbour Bridge! With a line up of artists like Havana Brown, Sneaky Sound System and Mashd N Kutcher, coupled with a maze of awesome rides, is there really even a choice here?

Captain Cook Cruise
Want to really class it up and go all out this New Years to make all your mates super jealous? Then I have two little words for you: Harbour Cruise. Boarding early evening from King St. Wharf No. 1 in Darling Harbour, you’ll enjoy a 5 hour sail around the Harbour where you have an envious view of the city. Feeling peckish? Enjoy a full seafood buffet dinner with compliments of the open bar to make sure you’re good and buzzed for showtime. Don your best attire and get ready to enjoy a classy night under the stars and really make this New Years Eve a night to remember.

Or just stay in. Don’t do a thing. Room service is 24hrs.

Whatever you do, travel safe – from your friends at QT Life, all the best for 2017.
