Where to Eat During Sydney Festival

Jan 22, 2018  ·  3 min read

Sydney Festival is in full swing and has well and truly taken over the city. Whether you’re jumping on the Karaoke Carousel at Hyde Park or enjoying the array of incredible theatre performances at Carriageworks, you’re bound to get a bit peckish.

We’ve got you covered for delish eats that will be the perfect accompaniment to your night of culture and creativity. Remember, Sydney Festival finishes this Sunday so make sure to eat up the food and performances sometime this week, or you will miss out!

At the Festival Village:

The incredible sideshow-themed installations and artworks at this year’s Sydney Festival Village are guaranteed to work up an appetite – particularly if you’re going to be busting some moves in the Glitterbox (a glitter-filled rave cube!)

Here are our fave places to feast at the festival.

Happy as Larry
These guys know their pizza. Grab a slice of their infamous Margherita and then come back later to treat yo self to a calzone oozing with Nutella.

Marys
Mary’s, a Sydney burger institution, will be serving up their classic cheeseburgers and fried chicken. Don’t worry, you’ll deserve it after you hit up the laser-lit 10 Minute Dance Party and cut some shapes in a converted shipping container.

Gelato Messina
Top it all off with a Disco Biscuit from the legends at Gelato Messina. We’re talking gelato, crunchy biscuit and all kinds of yum toppings.

Around the city

If you fancy some pre- or post-festival dins and drinks, try out these venues around the city that have custom Festival Feasts menus.

Mejico, CBD
Expect tacos, haloumi, corn lollipops and watermelon salad all washed down with a glass of Sangria or Sol.

Madame Shanghai, Darlinghurst
Take a seat here and overlook the creative chaos of Hyde Park, whilst chowing down on eight courses of scrumptious Shanghai street food.

Kindred, Darlington
This family owned Italian eatery will be serving up their freshly baked sourdough and incredible home-made pasta to Festival goers for just $30/head. Perfect for Carriageworks or Seymour Centre events.
