Sweet Eats in Sydney

Sep 7, 2016  ·  4 min read

By Ben Stephens

After those dinners where you didn’t completely stuff yourself silly, but a walk feels in order to digest the amount of carbohydrates that you just swallowed, it’s helpful to throw an end goal into the mix, you know, just as a silver lining. If you find yourself in this position in Sydney, you need to aim for the nearest ice creamery, this will act as the cherry on top of the evenings dinner. Sydney has many little spots to pick up a frozen dairy delicacy , from 7-11’s Magnums to the best gelato you’ll have in your mouth, it’s a wash out there. Here is a little pick of what we are loving in the world of ice cream treats:

N2 Extreme Gelato

When it comes to getting a nice big ball of gelato, why not trick it up and smash Oreo’s dipped in white chocolate, with a thin layering of warm milk chocolate for good measure. The team at N2 whip your choices up and use magic (liquid nitrogen) to freeze it right in front of your eyes. The outcome is delicious. They shy away from anything on the heathy side of things and just go all in on the good stuff. N2 can be found in Chinatown, whipping up their goods 7 days a week.

Aqua S

Blue, sea salt flavoured soft serve. It’s seriously delicious alone, though the crew at Aqua S don’t want to see you walk out with just a cone, throw some popping candy on there and why not a freshly toasted flat marshmallow and while you’re at lets wrap the cone in fairy floss. You go in for one thing and come out with a whole cone of flavours and no regret. Aqua S are a welcomed addition to the Regent Place cohort.

Gelato Messina

You’ll want to have suitable shoes on the walk up to Victoria St in Darlinghurst for this one. The wizards that the Messina team are, always have a selection of flavours that will see you questioning how to fit five flavours on one cone. You can’t walk past the salted caramel, but them the espresso is too darn good, mix that a peppermint choice and you have yourself a mess of flavours but you’ll be smiling and that’s all that really matters, right?

Ben & Jerrys

A walk to remember, a walk that will take you past Central, over the fringe of Chippendale and into Broadway. Here you’ll find the ice cream that tastes like a bad diet choice but with flavours like double choc-chip cookie dough, how do you keep walking past that? You don’t. you grab a relatively small tub, a humbled sized spoon and you go to town on that.

Two scoops are better than one! #icecream #delicious From @msyan_
