Every country in the world has it’s “things”. You know what I mean, those cliche little “aha!” moments that tie in so nicely with the people and the culture.

When it comes to the French, we can “HAW HAW HAW” all we want and lift our upper lips in mock dissatisfaction, but my God you can’t deny the French know how to eat, they know how to love and, most importantly, know how to take advantage of the simple pleasures.

A country steeped in the whimsical, the romantic and the quietly festive, Sydney will play host to everything fantastically French on a perfect Summer’s day at the Bicentennial Park in Glebe.

January 21, will see the BC Park transformed with the So Frenchy So Chic festival.
Aimed at creating an atmosphere thick with the exuberance and beauty of a European summer day spent basking in the architectural marvel that is the city of Paris.

To highlight the ease of the day, there will be live music supplied by four French favourites; Nouvelle Vague, Bertrand Belin, The Limiñanas and Deluxe. Set on an open stage, allow these artists to whisk you away while you tuck into your pre-ordered hamper – there are incredibly delicate decisions to be made when you purchase your ticket. You have the option to choose your very own picnic with choices of crusty baguettes to salad jardinière and the very best in desserts and cheese.

If you’d prefer to pass on the early decisions, there will also be food available on the day in a gastronomic thoroughfare designed by Hotel Gatton; you will be thoroughly spoilt with artisanal temptations.

Never fear mummas and papas! You are not excluded from the chic fun – your babies under the age of 12 are through the gates for free, and will be kept entertained by the likes of balloon making, life-sized chess, face painting and more, while you kick back with a glass of Laurent-Perrier Champagne and fistfuls of macaroons.

Oh, and one more thing…you don’t have to just pretend you’re lounging around in the decadence of France – the festival is hosting a draw (enter HERE) to win a luxury escape for two in the shape of a Renault hire-car gliding smoothly along the South of France. The winner will receive flights, luxury accommodation and a Renault car spanning a 10-day road-trip, making all those Joie De Vivre dreams a stunning reality.
