The Smith Street Band at Metro Theatre

Feb 4, 2015  ·  2 min read

By Benjamen Judd

Melbourne-based rockers, The Smith Street Band, are once again hitting the road for a national tour across Australia and one of their stops just happens to be here in Sydney, where they will perform at the Metro Theatre on Friday February 13.

Hot on the heels of their pretty much flawless 2014 LP, Throw Me in the River, the lads of Smith Street have already released a follow up EP rather cutely called Wipe That Shit Eating Grin Off Your Punchable Face.

It’s an album dedicated to a certain political leader whose name we shan’t mention here (but we’re pretty sure you know who we mean) and his government’s treatment of asylum seekers. It’s a sentiment we can all say we’ve probably felt at one point or another. You can listen to it here.

Joining the boys on their tour across Australia will be Canadian indie punk band Pup, UK band Great Cynics and Apart From This.

We’re still surprised that The Smith Street Band hasn’t blown up a lot quicker but then again, maybe it’s a good thing because we might not get to see them at such great venues as The Metro.

The Smith Street Band will perform at the Metro Theatre on Friday, February 13.
