Sculptures by Barangaroo

One of the most picturesque spaces around the city is about to turn one. Barangaroo Reserve is that pretty patch just next to Walsh Bay, near the Harbour bridge. Grassy knolls and 10,000 blocks of sandstone make up the reserve and after a year of having the park opened, it’s time to celebrate a little milestone.

Now because ‘Bangas’ (as it’s known to locals) has had a lot of money thrown at it, you have to expect that the 1^st birthday party is going to be something pretty rad, and I think it’s fair to say, the team haven’t disappointed.

When it comes to throwing a party al fresco, there are a few who spring to mind, but there is only one team that can throw an arts party, year on year and still kill it – the Sculptures by the Sea crew. Those legends will be bringing 15 brand new pieces that have been commissioned to be apart of the celebrations, with some of them growing as the birthday party continues through August. The pieces are made by 15 Australian artists, keeping them all home grown creations.

The festival will carve a sweet path through the reserve, showing off the peaks and valleys of the parkland, while playing with your mind and challenging your Instagram game in the process. On top of the sculptures, there will be artist conversations about their pieces and on August 21, the official birthday will be held at the parkland.
