The modern man is one who takes pride in his appearance without being obsessive; has a keen eye for style without being ostentatious.
It’s a delicate set of sensibilities that QT barber, Kris Jones, has in spades. In a recent interview with magnificent Australian suitors MJ Bale, Jones shared some of his top tips on how you can look razor sharp and permanently romance-ready.
Jones suggests keeping your facial routine as simple as possible, recommending three basic things: a good cleanser, decent moisturiser and the occasional use of a gentle facial scrub.
FACE TIME
Cleansing:Â Wash with a cleanser every morning before you shave. I recommend a cleanser from Uspa. Get a facial scrub and use it twice a week.
Shave yourself: Always shave after a shower so your face is nice and warm, and your skin and hairs are soft. With regards to shaving cream, don’t use anything out of a can, like an aerosol. All the chemicals or gasses in the can will go into the pores of your skin and cause irritation. Anything from Trumpers in London is good, but whatever you use, apply it with a brush or with your hands. In terms of razors, a double-edged safety razor is always a great way to go. If you’re not going to use one of them, keep it simple. Use something like a Gillette Sensor Excel or Mach 3. Use cold water or cold towel after shower to close the pores up. You can shave in the evening as well; it gives your skin time to recover.
Get moist: Always use some moisturiser after you shave and especially before you go to work. It’s up to you what you use. I personally use products from Uspa.
The Hangover: If you’ve had a big night but have an important date to go on, use a cleanser and then put some eye cream on to get those bags on your eyes down.
 HAIRY ESCAPADES
When it comes to your crowning glory, Kris maintains a similarly minimalist approach to keeping your locks looking luscious, leaving you with more free show the world just how good you look.
Wash Up: Shampoo your hair between 2-3 times a week, depending on your lifestyle. If you’re into sport, or surf and spend a lot of time in the ocean, I suggest washing it 4-5 times a week. Product wise, for somebody feeling thinner on top, always go for a dry product and make sure your hair is dry before you put it in. I would go for American Crew Fibre and start with an American Crew boost powder.
Lastly, personal grooming goes beyond slopping on some product, a splash of cologne and a floss of the teeth. Jones suggesting addressing certain follicular follies head on.
Clipster: If you’re a little bit older, get control of that nose and ear hair as well, which your barber should do for you. I clip my eyebrows at least 3 times a week.
