Australia’s folk musician laureate, Paul Kelly, has announced another national tour, The Merri Soul Sessions, which will see him perform a string of intimate concerts including a night at the Enmore Theatre on April 10.
Paul Kelly has built a musical career on singing to the soul of Australia. With a repertoire that ranges from bluegrass, rock, country and even with elements of reggae, the consistent theme of Australian culture – be it suburban, inner city to rural – creates a thread that ties the diverse sounds together.
The Merri Soul Sessions tour takes its name from Kelly’s most recent studio album. Recorded in mid 2014, The Merri Soul Sessions is a collaboration of voices, including soul singers Vika and Linda, Clairy Browne and Dan Sultan.
The album was recorded live-in-the-studio, alongside the Merri Creek, which gave the album its name, and is one of Kelly’s most honest and earnest releases. Paired back, the album highlights the power of the voice without the necessary need for any over production.
Which is exactly what you will get when Kelly and his Soul Sessions crew gather for a one night only performance at the Enmore Theatre. Joining Kelly and his band will be his fellow collaborators, Vika and Linda Bull and his nephew Dan Kelly.
Tickets will sell out fast so don’t miss your chance to see one of Australia’s most fascinating and talented musicians live.
