Mercedes Benz Fashion Festival 2015

2015 marks the 20th year of annual fashion showcase Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. Each year over four glorious days the event gets bigger and brighter, attracting more brands, larger well-heeled crowds, and more much needed column inches that ever before. This prolific shot in the arm for the domestic rag trade is jam packed with local and visiting celebrities, the much lauded Fashion Bloggers  (featuring this year will be our very own stable of glamazons from Fashion Bloggers TV of which QT Sydney is an official partner), and the who’s who of the Sydney fashion conscious set.

At the iconic Carriageworks theatre and production space you will see bright lights in the international modelling world who hail from some of Australia’s furthest corners – Abbey Lee Kershaw, Julia Nobis, Jessica Hart, model of the moment Bambi Northwood-Blyth, and Catherine McNeil can all be seen strutting their long legs down the runway on behalf of Australian designers.

The top trends we were treated to during the 2014 showcases were Toni Maticevski‘s Neoprene, Alice McCall‘s signature gelato hued feminine pieces, Alex Perry almost single handedly launching the Australian ‘cut’out’ movement where we began to see small flashes of flesh cheekily glinting out of every dress, and Christopher Esber‘s his-for-her masculine styling where models looked set to take on the big-boys boardrooms.

Starting on Sunday the 12th of April and finishing up on Thursday 16th of April these shows are something akin to a pilgrimage for lovers of fashion and are well worth the trip and ticket if you are heading to Sydney from another state. If you are thinking of attending a show we have very simple advice for you – bring it in the style stakes. Who knows, you could be featured in Sydney Confidential as ‘one-to-watch’.
