Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia 2016

Fashion boys and girls, I know you’re well and truly all-over the deets for the upcoming Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week that’s hitting Sydney May 15. You’re such a knowledgeable crowd, you are. It’s also Sydney’s biggest week on the fashion calendar, so for those of us that have had a busy first quarter and missed a couple of press releases around the festival, let me recap the highlights for you.

The week will be showing the hottest in resort style collections, so think cossies and super relaxed pieces. The week starts on May 15 at 4pm sharp at Carriageworks, the home of fashion for the week. Sunday is dedicated to Melbourne designer, Toni Maticevski and his sculpture like pieces that complement the human structure.

Heading into Monday, the day is jammed packed with fashion icons that are not to missed, with the likes of AJE, Swaroski and fashion week favourite Rebecca Vallance. The headliner for Monday evening will see Dion Lee show his new line at a venue still to be announced. Mark our words, this will be quality.

Now the rest of the week is crowded with shows that will no doubt drain your Instagram feed and cause little bouts of FOMO. The line-up is bursting with major players, like Bec & Bridge, MacGraw, Alice McCall, Romance Was Born, We Are Kindred, Emma Mullholland, Di$count Universe, Camilla and We Are Handsome, and that is just 10 of the 55+ that will fill the week up. Special mention to our QT Bondi style maker, Pip Edwards, Pip will be showing her new line P.E. Nation, on Thursday May 19 at 11am. Be there, it’s a rad range and a show that will be nothing but fun!

Closing out the week will be the big one, with Project Next Gen showing the best in student designed fashion whetting the appetite for Oscar De La Renta to hit the runway and show off the best in luxe goods.

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week 2016 runs from May 15 to 20.
