We’re midway through the year and I have picked up zero new skills. The new year, new me thing went well, until about January 8 and since then I have loathed every day that hasn’t seen growth in my abilities as a human. When I say abilities, I mean skills like being able to throw clay on a wheel and craft a set of crockery… yeah I’d get down for that, for sure. Thankfully, the team behind a new collaborative, community focused workspace named MakerSpace &company, are now working to teach amateurish individuals (you and me?) a whole range of new skills taught by some of the best in the game, whatever game that is.

Now it’s not just pottery you can throw your hand at, there are workshops on silver jewellery creation, crafting with bamboo and even an introduction to stick wielding, you know the kind of stuff that you should probably know how to do, if only just for fun.

The team at MakerSpace, located in Marrickville, are now the proud holders of a workshop totalling in 1200sqm of pure creation space. Stocked full of everything you need to knock up your next woodwork master piece or get that screen printed idea on a shirt, this place is like a co-working office, on steroids.

You can book a one hour catch up with the team, where you can talk over the projects you have in mind, then the team will train you on all the machinery and tools you’ll be needing, after this you are free to create what ever you want. If you ever need a helping hand the team is there to make sure your lines are straight or your cup and saucer combo that you just crafted, is functional at best.
