Hurley Australian Open of Surfing

Feb 2, 2015  ·  2 min read

By Benjamen Judd

Is there anything more summer-esque than surfing, skateboarding and music festivals? How about all three at the same time. Which is what is happening when the Hurley Australian Open of Surfing takes over Manly beach from Saturday, February 7 until Sunday, February 15.

Turning Sydney’s iconic Manly beach into one huge stage, the Hurley Australian Open of Surfing will bring together some of the best surfers and skaters as they compete to take out the titles in their respective sports.

One of the biggest draw cards to the Hurley Australian Open is undoubtedly the ominous and unmissable Beach Bowl.

This legendary skate bowl is imported from the United States, and features grandstand seating making it one of the ‘must-see’ aspects of the 2015 Hurley Australian Open.

Construction of the Beach Bowl starts days out from the actual event that will feature the world’s best skateboarders from Feb 11th to 15th.

And if that wasn’t enough, bringing the tunes to the Channel [V] stage are Sydney psychedelic-Indie trio Jagwar Ma, Triple J Hottest 100 winner Vance Joy and San Cisco.

This is a great week of sun, sand, surf and sounds and you’d be nuts not to get in on it.

The Hurley Australian Open of Surfing will take place across Manly Beach from February 7 until February 15.
