spaQBy Ben Stephens.
Hidden away in the bowels of the hotel we have a squad dedicated to creating incredible hairstyles for the QT crew. This adds a little something extra to getting ready – professionals attending to the bird’s nest that you’ve arrived with, so you leave with something of beauty. Primarily, the styling team is made up of two experts; Miss Sauirne (growing up around her mother’s salon resulted in a career in the industry of over two decades) and Miss Young (mostly working in TV and Film, can be found beautifying brides on weekends).
I managed to grab a moment of their time this week to ask four, very hard hitting questions about the magical work they do.
You have the opportunity to create some pieces of art with the QT Team, is there a particular style that you aim for or does it change depending on the head of hair in front of you?
CS: It changes every day, from the personality and vibe to where in the hotel they are working. Sometimes the girls will come in not 100% on their game and I try to create something that is hopefully going to see them leave in positive mind.
EY: It changes on the hair, but typically, I’ll do a quick inspiration check on Instagram, something like #funkyupstyle or check out Sam Villa’s account. Then from there I’ll create a practical, but an edgy up do. I also have a love for braids in blonde hair.
Its 2016, what styles do you feel are popular at the moment in the world of female hair and any favourites that you want to see more of?
CS: The most popular style at the moment and the one I like the most is a very loose wave, as well as the blow wave, big hair out, but keeping it natural. Also I am liking a slicked back looked this year.
EY: The most popular style I’m seeing is a well structured Jessica Rabbit style with some strong side action to it. Though how can you go past a loose beach wave, keeping it casual.
