GT Hotel Guide Awards 2016

Recently the Gourmet Traveller 2016 Australian Hotel Guide Awards went down (pauses while back is straightened and chest is puffed out) and we can proudly say that we took out a couple. Yep, we snagged a double win, taking out the “Best Minibar” for QT Hotels & Resorts and “Best Club Sandwich” for QT Sydney, while QT Port Douglas was listed as a finalist for “Best Hotel Pool”. And to further toot the own horn, QT Sydney, QT Gold Coast, QT Canberra, QT Port Douglas and QT Bondi made the cut of Top 50 Hotels listed in the guide. Boo-yah!

We are damn chuffed about it, to be brutally honest.

So, we’d like to tip the hat to Gourmet Traveller for being the only media outlet that performs an annual audit of the nation’s club sandwiches (when’s the bacon and egg roll audit coming?). In today’s technological world, we mustn’t forget about the important things in life. And what is more important than the humble club sandwich… Politics? The Kardashians? Please.

Furthermore, when staying in a hotel one should never forget to rummage through the booze, snacks and knick knackery found in the room. So once again, good work Gourmet Traveller for reviewing and rewarding a cornerstone of modern civilisation, the minibar – you keep the minibar industry honest and promote minibar excellence. Ours was given the top gong cause it’s choc-a-block full of quirky and unique assortments, from childhood memory-evoking games such as Pick Up Sticks to Emergency Bow Ties, Ninja ginger bread men, ‘Kissing’ Mints and intimacy kits.
