You know what’s crazy? Life. You know what makes life crazier? Being in Sydney. As the largest city in Australia, with a population that’s doing nothing but absolutely skyrocketing, it’s no wonder that the average Sydney-sider gets wrapped up in the hustle and bustle and has the odd occasion of a slight meltdown in peak hour traffic. When you move 47 cm in 32 minutes and a bus casually lounges about over three lanes of traffic and a taxi driver merges WITHOUT INDICATING! WE HAVE THOSE LITTLE FLICKY LIGHTS FOR A REASON MAN! Horns are blasting, chaos is going undirected and you really, really need to pee. Do you feel the tension yet?! I’m flipping out just writing that. I might need to lie down for a minute.
Coming from an every-day scenario such as this, it’s no wonder that the art of meditation, yoga and emotional mindfulness is catching on as the latest and greatest craze in the search for inward, and outward, peace.
Sometimes life just sneaks in through the back door and suddenly you’re 10 years from where you thought you were going to be – it’s these times that call for a little pull-back; a little rest and relaxation, and there’s a whole festival dedicated to it happening. Aptly named The Festival of Dreams, it is three days dedicated to the “New Age” – which is weird, because it’s actually the oldest form of healing and religion known to man, but it’s suddenly sparking back up as humanity moves towards a kinder place.
The Festival of Dreams aims to educate and inspire people into a richer and more authentic way of living. There are markets, yoga sessions, boutique stores, free seminars, ticketed talks, food stands, music, magic and of course, crystals.
Tickets are $25 at the door, or you can jump online and register HERE to get them for $20.
Throw off your shoes, chuck on some glitter and hold a crystal in your hand. You’ll feel it – that thing that happens when all of a sudden it’s quiet and calm – it’ll totally freak you out at first, but seriously, you’re going to love it; and you definitely need it! Treat yourself and your soul!
The Festival of Dreams is on at the Hordern Pavilion from October 7 – 9.
