Conor Oberst – the man behind Bright Eyes, Monsters of Folk and Desaparecidos – is coming to Australia and he’ll be crooning us softly at the Metro Theatre on Wednesday, March 4 where he will be supported by the Felice Brothers.
Despite having a career that spans well back in to the 90s when Oberst released a slew of critically acclaimed albums under his own label, it was until the 00s that Oberst hit his stride musically.
It wasn’t until Bright Eyes that Oberst finally broke the barrier into commercial success, releasing two albums in 2005 that both reached the top 20 in the Billboard Charts and brought him into the global spotlight. Following up from that burst of success, in 2008, he was dubbed Songwriter of the Year by Rolling Stone.
In the decade that has followed, Oberst has continued his prolific run, releasing three solo albums alongside further records with Bright Eyes, the Mystic Valley Band, indie-supergroup Monsters of Folk and Desaparecidos.
Oberst’s latest tour coincides with the release of his latest album, Upside Down Mountain, back in 2014 which has been hailed by many critics as his finest work yet.
Conor Oberst will perform at the Metro Theatre on Wednesday, March 4.
