Chat with Cherylyn Barnes

We here at the QT are a sucker for a down to earth, true blue, roots deep proper Aussie character but unfortunately they seem to be getting harder to come by (our last obsession was Trent from Punchbowl). We assumed they were either turning in to or getting killed off by hipsters. But then we discovered ‘utube and twit’ sensation, Cherylyn Barnes.

Mother, cat-lover and sometime-witch, the Flower of Bradbury (you may remember that’s the town that gave us 2008’s winner of The Biggest Loser, Samuel Rouen) Cherylyn Barnes has been slowly taking the social media scene by storm with her regular updates and videos that she shares on her Facebook page. Chez’s nothing if not honest, opening her heart up on a slew of personal topics such as her relationship with her husband Terry Barnes (cousin of Jimmy) and his family, her cats Neil and Angel, and even offering sage advice on how to parent in modern day suburban Sydney. And she’s not afraid to tackle the tough problems either, such as breastfeeding and even contributing to the It Get’s Better campaign during this year’s Mardi Gras.

We had the chance to chat to Cherylyn and learn a little bit more about the woman behind the e-ciggie earlier this week and ask her about the real Chez.

Hi Cherylyn, thanks for taking the time to talk to us. We are huge fans of your videos! Can you tell us a little bit more about yourself?

Hi chooky thanx for taken the time 2 intervew me becase ppl wil no wat I’m like now. My names Cherylyn Barnes and a have a gorjus husben wats called TERRY and a daughter wats called DESIREE and a buetiful grandauter called SHAKIRA…2 cats neil and angle. I do utubes evry week and starten to get lots of ppl on my face book site and instragram. xoxox

What made you want to start sharing tidbits of your life on social media sites like Twitter and YouTube?

Well 1st i saw a guy on a currant affair talken a bout his utube and how his maken money off it so i was enspired to do it becase of that but then i won a mack book off the library so i thout no i can finely do utube. so i made terry get the net and the rest is histry

Tell us, what is an average day in the life of Cherylyn Barnes like?

I wake up and feed the cats and then i turn on the internet box becase i turn it off at nite so the neighbers cant steel it lol. So then I check my face book site and all the likes wat I get over night. That takes a bout 2 hours than i check my twit site. My insgrrams, utube and so on and so on.

And what kinds of things do you like to do when you’re relaxing? Have you got any hobbies?

I just told u……. the net lmoa

When you go on a holiday, what’s your favourite thing to do to unwind?

it depends wat it is. if its beach than i like to put my feet inside the water or if its snow than i like to make snow man. 1 time we went to snowy mountens and i made a snowman but terry made a hole in the bottom off it with his foot and said ““now its a snow lady””. lmoa wat a rat bag

And what about in Sydney? Can you share with us some of your favourite places in Sydney that you could recommend a guest to visit for a good night out?

O ok… well me and terry like to get tea at the braddo but if we want to make a nite off it than we go to west leagues club becase u seem to win more on the pokies wats there there. And becase were platinum members we can free drinks and tea for free there as wel as ice cream and wat not. o 1 time we went to gay bar becase desiree actually nos a lezzy so we went with her and there was gay guys kissing lmoa and blokes dressed up as girls. it was hilarus. its closed now but it reminded me off wen me and my girlfriends use to go watch lay girls in the cross yeahs ago. it was so fun but carols not the same any more. the fames gone too her head. but now we dont go to town much u shoud ask desiree she always gose clubben

When you’re having a night out, what’s your favourite cocktail to get the party started?

What’s your favourite meal for a special date night?

i dont no if its my favorite but i did a utube tutoral of devon and mash potato. my chookys seem to luv that 1

Has Desiree forgiven you for your Naughty Little PooFace video?

Look, we probably have a different blue every week. she pises me off just as much as i pis her of but we always luv each other no mater wat. she always cums back sucken up my ass asking for money so shes never pist off for to long LMOA

Sorry to bring it up but it’s kind of the elephant in the room – can we talk about your recent ‘boobgate’ on Facebook? It seemed to get a lot of attention but for all the wrong reasons. Is there anything you’d like to say to set the record straight?

I ment to put up pix wats of angles….. u no the ones with quotes on it but i acidently put up pix wat was for terry. so i quickly took it off but sum litle dikwit was to quick for me and downloded it and try to spred it all over face book. i had my cry but now im fine. if thats wat gets your jollys off than your a looser. not my problem.

And lastly, how’s Angel?

Angle’s much beter now but ever since them junkies let their dog attack her we dont let her outside much. them cats are like my fuken babys. xoxoxox
