Contemporary art. I was discussing the idea that by its own admission, contemporary art is so ‘right now’. I was for this statement, mostly because I wrote that a while back about a new exhibition hitting the Museum of Contemporary Art. I believe that the line speaks to the heart of the art form and there couldn’t be anything that holds more truth. My dear friend dismissed the whole line as pure fluff and accused me of trying to meet a word count for the article.

I guess that’s the great thing about art, it’s subjective.
Either way, enough fluff. With the month of March here, comes a month celebration of the Sydney Contemporary art scene with Art Month Sydney – a city-wide take over, lifting the curtain on the burgeoning art scene that Sydney plays home to.
From night walks, early morning talks and never to be repeated art exhibitions the festival aims to stretch your mind through the medium of art. Which is good, it’s March already and you may not have had your mind stretched just yet.
With so much on, here are a couple of highlights of the month long festival that you won’t want to miss out on:
Sirius Building & Artwork Tour
What some may say is the most horrible building in all of Sydney, others call it the mecca of brutalist architecture in the Harbour City. Regardless of your preconception of the Sirius Building in The Rocks, have you ever been through it, to really understand it? If not, this is the chance for a walk through with Sirius architect, Tao Gofers.View this post on Instagramlieblingshaus, sirius 01 . . . . #sydneysnapshots #sydney #sirius #siriusbuilding #millerspoint

Eora Dreaming
This exhibition plays on the idea of a re-imagined Sydney, before white settlement. From the cliffs of Southern Bondi to the heart of the Sydney Harbour, the showcase pays respect to the first people and the traditional way of life.Art At Night
These nights are the highlight of the month, with three three nights, at three different galleries, showcasing three different styles of artwork in the contemporary world. Starting in Redfern, followed by East Sydney and then ending in Paddington, this series aims to bring the community together with art, wine and design. A perfect pairing, I’m sure you’d agree.View this post on InstagramAppreciating #art It's #artmonthsydney people
