Those plans that you had for after work… you should probably scrap them. Clear the diary and replace the evening’s happenings with artsy adventures and pop-up wine bars.
From Redfern to Chippendale, Paddington and East Sydney galleries around the city will be swinging their doors open for a night time stickybeak for Art Month this March.
Sadly, the opening night has already passed. March 3 saw the Art at Night festivities kick off at the East Sydney hub and from all accounts it was a cracker, so the next two should not be missed.
Broken over districts and artists, you should (if you know what’s good for you!) get along to these gallery nights. To help out, we jotted down a couple of standouts; the Art at Night trails:
Paddington & Woollahra
Spread over the two suburbs, local favourites like The Arthouse in Rushcutters Bay and M Contemporary will be among the favourites to check out. Opening at 6pm on March 10, grab a map and take a stroll through 16 exhibitions that will be showing off their goods. After this, Cake Wines and friends will be popping up at Bonython Courtyard for some drinks and tunes.
Galleries on the trail are: Arthouse Gallery; Australian Galleries Sydney; Barometer; Dominik Mersch Gallery; Janet Clayton Gallery ; Jensen Gallery; .M Contemporary; Olsen Irwin; Palmer Art Projects; Piermarq; Roslyn Oxley9 Gallery; Sabbia Gallery; Saint Cloche; Sarah Cottier Gallery and Stills Gallery
Redfern & Chippendale
This is the beating, edgy heart of the Sydney art scene; stretching from UTS in the west, winding its way through the Chippendale streets and out east to Bourke Street. The final night of Art at Night is shaping to be the biggest one. Perhaps start your night at The Bearded Tit in Redfern, then maybe move over to Small Spaces in Surry Hills for some art chat. As you make your way across town be sure to end at the Eveleigh Creative Precinct for some more delicious liquid goods.
Galleries on the trail are: The Bearded Tit; The Commercial; Eveleigh Creative Precinct; Galerie pompom; Harrington Street Gallery; Home@735; Kensington Contemporary MOP Projects; M2 Gallery;Smallspaces; Spot81; UTS Gallery; Wellington St Projects and 107 Projects
