Art After Hours at the Art Gallery of New South Wales

The Art Gallery of New South Wales has gone all out for this season’s Art After Hours program. Combining live talks, film, music and private tours through exhibitions, every Wednesday night through February will be an homage to synthpop fantastica, starting on February 4 and wrapping up until February 25.

Art After Hours was launched as an initiative to for the public to engage with art in a new way. Interactive, intimate and impeccably curated, Art After Hours is a unique way of engaging with some of the best in modern and traditional art.

Starting on the 4th, guests can expect to be treated to the talents of he gargoyle of Australian synthpop, Alex Cameron. Inside the Pop to popism exhibition, the Gallery’s archivist Steven Miller will discuss British-born artist Richard Larter’s influential role in Australia’s pop art scene. Also, don’t forget to catch four short films from Australia’s first underground film movement, followed later in the evening by Mick Jagger’s bizarre turn in Performance for the Pop cinema series.

On the 11th, Client Liaison will be tearing up the floor in the entrance court. You can also grab a personalised tour of the latest Art Express exhibition including talks from several of the student’s involved. There will also be performance pieces and private tours around the gallery as normal.
